George Bello, Atlanta United’s young left-back, and Miles Robinson, center back, have been named to the United States men’s national team 25-player roster for its match against Trinidad & Tobago next Sunday, January 31.
Bello, 18, is the first ATLUTD Academy product to make a senior USMNT roster. Several players have competed for the youth squads but this milestone is a proud moment for the club. Bello was a part of the 2019 U-17 World Cup, with eight total caps at that level.
Both Robinson and Bello were invited to the camp in Bradenton to train with the U-23 squad in preparation for Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying in March. When USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter called the camp, he stated that the 11 senior players and 27 youth players would compete for a spot on the roster for the friendly.
This is the first time since October 2019 that ATLUTD will put a player on the national team, when Robinson and Brad Guzan were called up for the Concacaf Nations League matches.
Nine of the 12 senior players called up stayed on the roster and 16 youth players made the cut for the friendly.
Exploria Stadium, in Orlando, Florida, will play the stage for the Concacaf foes, the third match it will host this month. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on FS1, so expect the whistle to blow somewhere between 7:05 and 7:35 p.m.
