Giorgos Giakoumakis: MLS Player of the Matchday

With his first hat trick for Atlanta United on Saturday night, it's no surprise that Giorgos Giakoumakis was named the MLS Player of the Matchday on Monday. He won one Player of the Matchday award in 2023.

It was a perfect hat trick with goals from his right foot, left foot, and head. For Atlanta United, it was the first hat trick since Juanjo Purata in 2022 against Toronto FC.

Giakoumakis became the fifth player in MLS history to record his first 20 goals in under 2,000 career minutes, joining Stern John, Josef Martínez, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Mamadou Diallo.
