Lionel Messi training in Ft. Lauderdale, MLS All-Star prep, & more: The Rundown for July 18

Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets took part in their first Inter Miami training session this morning ahead of the Herons' Leagues Cup opener on Friday night against Cruz Azul. They'll face Atlanta United next Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale.

One of the interesting subplots of today's training session is Jean Mota working out on the side. Miami could really use him back in their midfield to support Messi and Busquets.

Tonight, the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge will take place in Washington, DC. I've really started to enjoy this event, I'd love to see the league do even more to make this a big part of the All-Star festivities. Maybe a legends' challenge of USA vs. the World? The All-Star Game itself will be tomorrow night. It's pretty early in Arsenal's preseason training so we'll see how seriously they take the match. (Photo credit: USA Today Sports)
